Directions from Houston thru Burton to Dime Box
Lit’l Bit of Heaven Schnauzer Farm, Dime Box, TX
From Hwy 6 and Hwy 290 it will take about 1 hr 35 minutes to get to Dime Box.
Take Hwy 290 West going toward Brenham. Stay on 290 thru Brenham. As you pass the exit Hwy 36 where Home Depot and Walmart are Hwy 290 will curve to right. After that curve to the right you will need to watch for signs that say Hwy 290 AUSTIN. That exit will take up up and over the Freeway yu were just on. Hwy 290 picks up there again, and you continue on until you reach exits for Burton.
You will know you are at Burton exit when you see a CITGO service station on RIGHT side of road, you need to turn there. That road is 390. It curves up behind the service station and goes up the hill. At the stop sign you will be at the 4 corners of downtown Burton..very small town. Turn LEFT, go up small hill to where you see High School on left, it makes a sharp right turn. After making that turn to right the VERY NEXT street that turns to left is HWY 1697. You turn left there and stay on 1697 thru countryside. When you reach a stop sign which forces you to turn left or right you will turn left which will keep you on Hwy1697. DON’T TURN RIGHT.. you’ll end up back in Burton.
Stay on 1697 until it dead ends into Hwy 141. There is a sign showing you to turn righ to Dime Box and left to Giddings. There is a red barn on left hand side of road, turn RIGHT. You are now five miles from Dime Box. Poceed down Hwy 141. After the speed bumps in road, the road will take a sharp right and then back to left at the RR Tracks. Go over tracks, and turn on first street to RIGHT by Dime Box Deli. I am the tiny white house with wine color shutters, one story. I am only house in Dime Box with a wood privacy fence. I have a reddish Ford Focus. My house faces the RR Tracks. 1041 CR 425, Dime Box, TX 77853. Address on mail box, and on the house.
